Vasilis Gkosios was born in Athens in 1998. He began studying piano at the National Conservatory of Chalandri, where he passed each academic year with distinction. In June 2025, he is scheduled to perform his final diploma recital under the tutelage of Magda Nikolaidou at the same conservatory. He has participated in masterclasses with Loukia Filippopoulou, Andrew Zolinsky, Lilya Boyadjieva, Titos Gouvelis, and Uwe Matschke. In 2012, he won First Prize and an Honorable Mention in Category A of the Panhellenic Piano Competition of X.O.N., performing works by J.S. Bach (English Suite No. 3 – Prelude), L.V. Beethoven (Sonata in F minor, Op. 2 No. 1 – Allegro), P.I. Tchaikovsky (The Seasons – June: Barcarolle), and M. Kalomiris (Prelude No. 1: Molto agitato ed appassionato). Throughout his musical education, he has given numerous recitals and performances at the National Conservatory of Chalandri Concert Hall, Beton7, Mythodia Conservatory (as part of the 1st Paros International Piano Seminar), Parnassos Literary Society Hall, and the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) in the Lilian Voudouri Hall. His interpretations are noted for their deep lyricism, skillfully combined with the power and dynamism that reflect his outstanding technical mastery. In parallel with his musical studies, in 2016 he was admitted to the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), graduating in 2021 with the distinction of Very Good. In 2024, he completed his postgraduate studies with Honors in the MSc program Earth Sciences and Environment – specializing in Applied Geology – Geophysics at NKUA, under the supervision of Professor Ioannis Alexopoulos.
